OUT + ABOUT | BATH

So finally I can continue the update on my Castle Combe and bath trip (work has been taking over again!) After checking out from our room in Ford we took a de-tour home via Bath for some coffee + cake, a spot of shopping and mooching about. We popped into Sally Lunn, a tea and eating house in the centre of Bath. It was a pretty fascinating place and the historic building is one of the oldest houses in Bath. The kitchen museum (in the basement of the tea shop) shows the actual kitchen used by the legendary young Huguenot baker Sally Lunn in Georgian Bath to create the first Bath bun. The bun is almost like a brioche bun and can be eaten with sweet or savoury toppings, I however decided to get the Apple and sultana cake and just sampled the bun with a lemon curd topping.

Shopping

After eating in the Bunn house we had a little look around the shops and then worked up an appetite again so started thinking about dinner! We wanted something simple and tasty so a truffle Tagliatelle was the winning recipe. We stopped off at Paxton + Whitfield, cheese mongers to the Queen, for our parmesan but could had ended up leaving with a whole lot more!

We then headed over to The Italian Food Hall to stock up on some pasta, truffle + truffle oil. I got rather distracted by all the wonderfully coloured pastas and we ended up trying our the squid ink spaghetti with our dinner which i must say tasted rather delicious!
