2017 Goals

So the Christmas tree is down and it's back to normality! As much as I love having the tree up I find it quite refreshing taking everything down again as it's a new start, with a bit more space back. The only downside is in my head I start thinking it's spring when the coldest days are probably be still yet to come!

SO goals. It's a new year and I love this time to reflect on the past years achievements and look forward to the next. I got my new diaries and note pads and I'm super excited to start putting it to use. I've got lots and lots of goals flying around my head and I'll share a few here...

GET BLOGGING!

So as you can see I've made a start on my number one resolution which is to get blogging, which not only makes a great online diary to look back on but it also a way to share my views and things I like and are worth sharing.

START WALKING MORE

I am very much guilty of sitting at my desk glued to the computer all day and as a result most days do not get anywhere near the recommended 10,000 daily steps. I did manage a fairly long jog the other day which left me struggling to walk for a few days after so I'll stick to walking for now...

TRY AT LEAST ONE NEW RESTAURANT OR BAR A MONTH

Since getting slightly older I've realised how much more I enjoy going out, having a good old chat, eating, having a few glasses of wine and being back at reasonable time. This way I just seem to be able to make the most of my time unlike when I was younger! Working/ trying not to spend too much has meant I haven't been out and about as much as I would like. Not only is it fun it's also great to see other restaurant and bar designs and experience them first hand...so I suppose I could just say it's in the name of research. Above is a photo from my recent trip the the Winter Terrace at the Dalloway bar.

IMPROVE MY MODERN CALLIGRAPHY

Last year I took a Modern Calligraphy class, to learn the basics and after much practicing I feel I am ready for the next stage. I still have a few issues with nibs which is very frustrating especially when they decide to not collect any ink.

MAKEOVER SOME CHAIRS

A few years ago I wanted to teach myself upholstery but at the same time starting up the Interior design business started taking up more of my time so unfortunately the self-taught upholstery lessons came to and end and my tools have been gathering dust. But this year I shall saving tired looking chairs and giving them a re-vamp and selling them on my website! I have a few lined up waiting for a make over (such as the one above) so watch this space...

DECORATE MY SHE-SHED

My garden office is great in the warmer months but over winter it seems to just turn into a storage space! So once it starts warming up I shall be out in the garden giving the shed a make over in and out. I'm currently feeling rather inspired by my favourite little house in Portobello Road.

SEE MORE OF ENGLAND

This is an ongoing resolution from last year as I've not even scratched the surface of places I've visited. Coastal towns are top of my list, such as Broadstairs where I visited a few months ago.

SAVE THE BEE'S!

I recently saw a post on Instagram by seedball.co.uk suggesting that everyone should help save the Bee's and other wildlife by planting more flowers. I thought it was a brilliantly simple idea where everyone wins so shall be getting my own seed pack

MAKE AMAZING SOURDOUGH BREAD

It's only a small one but I love sourdough bread and can never easily get a good loaf near me so if I can make it myself then problem solved! I've also just purchased this Posh Toast book so I can't wait to try some of the recipes.

And right now that's a wrap as I start knuckling down!
